Barton rod e virtuall y unopposed in th e 125cc Pro class, a nd ran with th e Open Experts rather than th e 250s. el iminating a co n fro n ta tio n with Hannah and Hicks . Larry "Acti on " Ja ckso n overtook a nd passed Jim Lyngar (Ya m) in mot o one, th en he ld o n for th e win . In the second Open P ro h eat , J ackson was playing ca tch -u p to th e flying Lyngar wh en th e su b-fra me sta rted partin g com pa ny with the rest o f his CR500 . Larry had to pull over fo r a DNF and leave th e evening's overa ll Open title to Lyngar. When it ca me time for the 250cc P ros to do their thing, the hea lthy cro wd moved up tigh t on th e fences 10 get a better loo k a t th e impending clash between loca l hotshots a nd national riders. Hi cks a nd Hannah burned o u t of th e ho le, with Hicks and Mark Ha ll (Yam) doing a bit o f th e bump-and-run. Hi cks lost effective use of his Ioot peg in th e enco u n ter . bu t it didn 't slow him down too much. H a ll hu n g on for a co u p le of turns and th en went down trying to edge in on Hi cks . With H all o u t o f th e way , the Honda rider s sim p ly ra n away from the fiel d. lea ving H all , Lyngar (H us ), T odd Peu gh (Suz) and H ans Kirschner (Ka w ) 10 fight for thi rd . Hicks got the holesh ot in th e final moro a nd . along with H annah, departed instant ly from th e com p an y o f the Idaho Experts. Hi cks and Han nah had a trem endous dice for th e en tir e 10 laps of th e ene rgy -ch arged race a nd . with delirious fan s scre aming th em o n. roared to a close fini sh . with Hi cks geuing the win by a bikelengt h or two over Hannah . Rain left th e Clav Peak tra ck in excellent sha pe for 'S unday's even t, a n d as th e 250cc Pro s ga ssed it up a nd head ed down th e ch u te for th e first rnoro start , it wa s Hicks gra b bing th e ho le hot. Hannah got bumped wide int o th e turn a nd wa s tempora ril y bottled up coming up a slig h t hill into a lefthander. Mark Ha ll (Ya m ) went down seconds later, leaving T odd Peugh (Suz) alone with Hi cks nah . Peugh co u ldn ' t stay on th e pace lon g and it was qu ick ly a no ther "Hannah 'n ' Hicks" sho w on th e track . Hi cks held off th e pressurin g Hannah for a cou p le of laps as th e pair ber serk ed aro un d th e circu it. H an na h nea rl y lost it a t one po int wh en h is back end ca ugh t a bum p wrong a nd kick ed o u t; but h e saved it a nd th e race for th e lead co nt in ued until Hicks fell. " 1 just h it a spot wh ere it was soft o n to p an d harder u ndern ea th ," said Hi cks . Hi cks was u p a nd co o kin g in no time, but Hannah was long gon e. In th e seco n d mot o , th e Honda mounted pa ir again ran a way with it a ll. Ma rk Ha ll finished third agai n to effectively wi n th e overall points for the day in his co nti nuing quest for the Ida h o S tate 250cc Pro MX Championship. Jim L yn gar (Hus) followed Hall home with Suzuki rid ers Todd Peugh and Dan Huskey in tow . " Action" J ackso n won the Open Pro class aboard a borrowed Kawasaki 500. Lyngar a nd Dan Lees (Kaw) h ad a good bash for second pla ce in th e first mota while Corey Barton (fo llow in g a 30-seco nd wait on the line) ca me flying around on his 125. Barton easily ran and h id from his nearest pursuer, new lv-Experuzed Sid Morris (S uz), who later fell hard but rem ounted to finish. Once again Barton la p ped the entire field o f O pen bik es (excep t J ackson ) in th e 20minute rac e. Open Pro m oto two was ano the r Jackson show a s he left L ynga r an d Lees to o nce again fight for seco nd . In th e overall, it was J ackson. L yngar. Lees. in tha t o rde r. The three motos were to be combined wit h the two motos run Sa turday (sco red separately) for the ove rall class championship, wit h the second day of racing having the largest rider a nd spectator a tt en d a n ce . La n ce (Mo ta X Fox /Yam support ) didn't attend Saturda y's racing, and wasn't gunning for th e title. The first m oto on Sunday had KTM-supported Grayson Hart shoot ing into the lead foll owed by Keller (H a n 250 ) and Lange. also on a 250. H art looked 10 be a good bet for the win, but o n th e first lap sta lled and d ro p ped to eig h th, well behind the incre di ble ba ttl e for first betw een Lange a nd Kell er. Min i Expert speed ster Paul Win n was aga in riding with the Pro s in a n exh ibitio n -sta tus ride an d held down thi rd to th e fin ish behind Lan ge and Kell er. Gary Beyer (Kaw )and J ohn Buyas (Kaw) rounded o u t the top five. Mot a two wa s led fro m sta rt to finish by Lan ge. In seco nd rod e Beyer, mu ch to th e deligh: o f th e loca l fan s who urged th e Kawasak i pil ot on unt il Kell er swep t past to seek o u t La nge. Lea ch beat Gar y Beav er (Kaw) for th e Sunday overa ll as well as Ala n O'Brien (Yam) and Scott Martin (Yam). T he second outing had Leach vaulting into the lea d over Beaver, Mar k West (H a n) and Tom Pilch er (ATK). Beaver quickly moved through traffi c to sett le beh ind Lea ch an d ahead of a Mart in /O'Brien Ba ttle. Pilcher saved what wou ld have been a na sty cras h but took o u t Martin and O 'Brien. who finis hed third a nd fourth in a scramble for ma ch inery . Leach made a sweep of th e class by winni ng the final mala going away. Bea ver again rode second a nd West took a third a t th e checkered flag. Jason McCormick (Ka w) wo n both da ys o f 60cc Expert action as well as th e cham p io ns h ip by winning every 60cc A mot a. McCormick beat Dan n y U lven (Kaw ). who wen t 2-2-2 in the da y. U lven took second bras s by holdin g off Ryan Huffman (Yam ), wh o wa s off his usu al class-win n ing pace.
