I Can-Am 's J o h n Martin captured the overall win in the National H are Scra m bles organized by the Golden Eagles M.C. This contin u es Martin 's stranglehol d o n the event as 20 this is the fourth year in a row he has won it. Fin ishi ng in three ' h ours,. 27.57 minutes, h e was th e on ly nder to make seven laps. Husqvarna's Mark Hyde was second overall and first in the Open ~I ass, but H usq.varna-mo un ted ~d Loj ak gave Martin the tough est lime. Indiana 's Bob Bean led th e co rnbi ned 250cc-Open A wav e arou nd the Spring Creek Park MX track a nd th en in to th e woods. CanAm' s Geoff Ba llard p ush ed a head for th e' n ext few miles , but his engine seized as he hit th e water crossing ne aring th e en d of th e circ u i t, Martin pu t hi s Can-Am into th e lead for good a t this point with Ballard, H yde and local MXer Jeff Sorenson roundi ng o u t th e top four ar rhe co nc lus io n o f th e first lap. Loj ak moved up from sixth 10 second on th e seco nd lap and caugh tMart in when Martin sto p pe d bri efly in th e pits o n th e seco nd round. The Super Senior win went, as usual, 10 Can-Am 's J eff Smith, Marti n was happy with th e win and accep ted co ng ra tu la tio ns from fri ends and family at what is his " ho me" track. H e has a strong shot at the Natio na l Champions hip w it h Mark H yde a lso a major con ten der. " I wasn 't real happy with the wa y I rode," said Hyde. " I made too many lilli e mistakes , but th e resul ts are oka y. I sho u ld be tied wi th Joh n going into th e la st event."
