That put McMi llen into the number o ne spo t and Murray int o seco n d . On lap three Murray powered pas t McMillen o n th e roc ke rs a nd a bobble by McM ill en let Sha wn T racy (H a n) a nd Dan Berg (H a n) by a lso. Murrav rode a flaw less race a nd h ad bu ilt up a 10 bi kelengt h lead by the time he took th e chec kered £lag . Tracy was second, foll owed closcl y by Berg a n d McM illen . In th e second m oto Murra y ca me o u t of th e gate in first a nd stayed out in front right down to th e £lag. Berg ra n in seco n d for th e first two laps. but cou ldn 't hold o ff a det ermined Mc1\rillen . McMillen took a welldeserv ed seco nd a nd a seco nd o vera ll. Berg held o n 10 third and took third o vera ll while Tracy brought up fou rt h a nd fini shed fourth overall. T he 250cc Intermed iate co ntest was an in tense d uel between Chris Bo ice (H a n) a nd Gary Goforth ( H o n). The first m o to looked as if it belonged 10 series poi III leader J o hn Garcia (H a n), but a knee inju ry for ced him out o f the ra ce in th e fo u rt h la p . Boi ce took o ver th e lead with Gofort h and David Stablein (Ha n) ho t a fte r h im . Boice m ain tained his lead to th e fin ish line - Goforth a nd Siablci n we nt across second a nd third . Goforth was first off th e li ne in th e seco nd round . Stablein, R ia lm ir Berrogn a (H o n ), an d Bo ice were in tow, but a hard hail o ver th e cra shwa ll doubl es took St ablei n o ut of th e top five. Boice pi cked off Bert og na o n th e fourth la p a nd took off after Goforth with one lap to go. T he two riders were wheel-t o-wheel, making con tact severa l times in a dash to th e finish lin e. It looked as if Goforth had it in th e bag unt il th e la st tu rn before the finish wh en Gofort h wen t wide and Bo ice sli p pe d by o n th e in sid e 10 take the wi n. Goforth was seco nd, Bertogna was thi rd a nd S teve Coster (H a n) was fourth. Bo ice's I-I gave h im th e o vera ll, Go forth 's 2-2 put h im in seco n d, a nd Coster cruised in to th ir d o vera ll with a 5-4. H onda rider Don Wil son won both mot os in th e 500cc Beginner cla ss, but no t without so me serio us co m pe tit ion from Ron Wood (Han ). Wood got th e hol eshot in th e first rnoro a n d had Wil son lir er y breathin g down all hi s neck for the enti re race. Ri ght before th e chec kered £lag Wilson passed Wood a nd to ok th e win . Gary Sch rec he ng os t (Han) rode in third p osit ion from th e sta rt to th e fini sh line. Wilson Ilew out o f th e ga te at th e sta rt of th e second moto with Wood right beh in d h im . pushing the two front runners way out ahead of the rest of the pack. Jim Clark (H o n) made up for a sta lled bi ke in the first
