Tom Burba (Cody Racing/ Oakl ey/ Bell/Hall man / STP/ Bel-Ray/Warren Reid Racin g/Pro Design Ja wa) turned in an erro r-free performance a nd too k home th e win in th e H and icap main. Burba was in th e lead a t th e sta rt o ver John Sandona a nd Mike Curoso . Curoso , look ing very impressive throughout th e night, qu ickl y went under Sa ndona for seco nd but th at is as far as he cou ld ge t. Ermolen ko got into second a nd a p p lied th e h ea t to C u roso while Cu ro so was breathing do wn Burba 's neck. Lap a fte r lap , Ermolen ko hop ped h is fro nt tire over the pipe as he went to the ins ide o f Curoso. Curoso was eq ua l to the cha llen ge as was Bu rba to C uro so 's cha llenges. Mike Faria ca me cha rg in g up from the back a nd pa ssed Errno lenk o for third o n th e back ch u te o n th e fina l circ uit. Erm ol en ko got back by a nd fini shed in third just behind Curoso a nd th e happ y winner Burba . J eff J ohnson led a t th e sta n o ver Tony Briggs a nd " Rad" Brad Oxley. O tt quickl y went to th e ou tsid e to get past O xley. He then set hi s sights o n J ohnson a fter Briggs mov ed past J ohnson for the lead at th e end of th e first circu it. 011 mad e quick work of Johnson a nd then raced past Briggs in turn one of Mike Delacy scored 14 out of 15 points to take t he Golden State.championship win over Paul Orlandi. Duane Yarrow was third overall. th e seco nd lap. Once ou t front 011 moved it out and p layed to th e a p p re-cia tive crowd. At th e end he had th em a ll on th eir feet g ivi ng him a standing ovation for hi s thrilling victor y. Briggs ended up seco nd some four lengths back followed by Oxley a nd Schwart z. La st Wedn esd ay night, Moran returned to IMS a nd p icked up ri gh t where he left o fI to win th e Internatio na l Ch all en ge with a score o f 14 points. o ne po int more than crowd favorite Mik e Far ia. The ni ght sta rted o fI with a surp rise as Rick Mill er won event o ne ove r Keith Chrisco a nd Kell y Moran wh o took a di sa ppoi nti ng third . Shawn Moran (ST P/ A&ETransport / Ar ai /Oakl ey /Silko lene/ Am eri can R a ce w a y Sou ve n iers / Sta r) i nc G ua rds / PJS / Ta lo n /Zl Cha m p io n / K&N/GM ) led a ll the wa y for his first win of the ni ght in even t two wh ere he was closely pursued by Al an Christi an. Event three wa s led from th e tapes 10 turn four on the final revolution by Rob Pfetzing. At that point Faria ducked in side to tak e a last-second win much to th edelightof hi s leg ion of fans. Pfet zing th en sh u t th e door o n King 10 tak e home seco nd. In race four , th e origina l go go t as far as turn two when Bo bby Schwartz hit a hole a nd sna p ped both hi s drive and primary cha ins , sending him hard 10 the ground. Schwartz got up but was excl uded from th e restart which was tak en by Sam Ermol enko. Schwartz 's excl usi o n ended hi s hopes o f winning o n th e night. Schwartz had a back-to-bark ride but co u ld not mak e it in tim e for even t four which was tak en by Sh awn Moran a fter being o u t-tra p ped by Sh awn McC onnell. Mor an chased a nd passed McConnell nea r th e end o f lap one for his seco nd wi n o f the n igh t. P fetzin g aga in got a super ga te a nd d id a masterful job o f holdin g back Errnolen ko's bids from th e tapes a ll the way to the ch eckered. Th is time he was passed by Errnolenko at th e checkered a nd he lo st th e race by an in ch . Fari a stayed pe rfect with hi s seco nd wi n o f the day while Mi ller dropped h is first poi nt when edged by Chr istian to close ro u nd two . Fa r ia, Erm ol en ko a nd S ha w n Mor an sta yed perfect with nine poin ts a fte r a ll riders scored win s in th e third round while Mill er too k a nothe r win to stay one po int behind. Round four was whe n things began to change. Gen e Wood s scored a relativel y easy win over Lance King and Ermol enko in event 13. After the event ended, Ermolen ko roosted Kin g for blockin g him during th e ra ce a nd th e two con tin ued th eir d iscu ssion in th e pits. Sch wa rtz got a killer gate in event 14 and fin ish ed far ah ead of Chris tia n whil e Fa ria cou ld onl y manage th ird and one poin t. Moran had a not he r win as he rode un chal len ged a fter la p one 10 defeat o lder brother Kell y in event 15 whi le Mill er won event 16 to m ove into sa le possessio n o f . second spo t one po int beh in d Sh awn Mora n . - Pfetzing, Lucero and Schwanz won th e firs t three ra ces in the final rou nd bu t th e big race was 10 be the fin al o ne sched uled for the ni ght. It match ed Shawn Moran with Mill er, Errnolenko and Faria. Moran got the ga te a nd led Faria and Ermo len ko into turn one. Mill er was forced wide a nd d ro pped to fourth . Moran was lead in g whil e Faria was making vicious cha rges on the outside in an effort to ge t by wh il e Ermolenko was trying to get by o n th e pole.
