T od d Bridges and Raym ond crashed in a co rner a nd Ken Netto gra bbed the lead o n th e restart but lost o u t to Moore. Stewart Capehart came al ive in the second round 10 fin ish second after a hard fought battle \\;th leader, Keen. R ob Wagner used a 3-3 finish for runnerup honors. Larry Perkins took the holeshot over a big class of (h-er 30 riders. Perkins m issed a turn and let Oklahoma ace Tony Greenwood by and Greenwood opened up a lead while Roger Stone clash ed with Perkins o ver second. Perkins got tired and Stone took second for good. Wayne Jorgensen a lso passed Perkins and wh i ttled away at Stone. J~ passed Sto ne on the fift h lap, bu t Stone ~t ~rned the fa vor o n the final lap 10 finish second beh ind Greenwood. In m o to two, Greenwood blasted his 500cc H onda to th e lead wh ile Larry Perkins ran a close second for m ost of th e moro, Richard Bassinger m oved u p through the pack at a steady pace to pass Perkins on th e final la p.
