Christian finished inches ahead of Steve Lucero to take the Scratch main win. Christian, Ptetzing cruise at Carlsbad By Gordie Orr CARLSBAD, CA, June 2 Alan " Crazy" Christian saw the ch eckered flag fall on his second Scratch main win in a row just seconds before the 32 rain began falling a t th e Carlsbad Raceway. Rob ert Pfetzing rook his first ever Carlsbad win in th e H andicap main on th e night wh en tra ck co nd ition s were less than ideal. The track surface began having problems with th e fir st race of th e ni ght. Several holes develo ped sending a number of rid ers down. Second Divi sion rid er Kevin Krugh was believed 10 be the most serio usly injured wh en he was rem oved off th e track by stretch er with wh at was beli eved to be a broken co lla rbone . Pfetzing (Valvo line / O' Nea l USA! STP / Sim p so n / O a kley/ Ka l-Ga rd/ PRP/Hai r Bv Bev/On e Grand/Z Weslak e) was h ook ed up and flying a ll ni ght long. Two in a row tor Faria By Scott Daloisio COSTA MESA , CA, MAY 3 1 The moon over the Orange Cou nty Fairgrounds wasn't quite full on Friday night but you couldn 't tell by the act ion on th e track - it seemed th at each a nd every race was stopped by a red flag due to a spectacu la r cras h . At the end of th e wi ld night, Mik e Fari a, for th e second week- in a row , took the Scratch main , while Sh awn McConnell go t up off th e deck to win the Handi cap main event . Fari a, (Shoe ilTorco / Oa kley/ T ra k Ma st er Ti r es vT' subak i z Sc o t tv 's Muffl er/STP/Kal-Gard/Wacy Armstrong j aw a ), wh o won the Scratch main last week on a Weslak e, was back a board a J aw Frida y even ing. H e drew th e pole and led Sam Ermolenk o a nd Kell y Moran o n th e start. Moran took second from Ermolenk o before teh end of th e first revolution , while Keith Chrisco closed in o n the thi rd spot. Faria was riding a perfect line a nd holdin g up th e d istan ce between himself a nd th e rem ainder of th e pac k. Errnolenko went wid e in turn one on lap IWOa llo wi ng Chrisco to strea k by o n the ins ide. Ch risco was a ble to ge t close to Moran but in no wa y were eithe r go ing to mount a serio us cha llenge to Faria , wh o took th e win by four len gths. Mor an held off Chrisco for second with Errnolenko gelling cred it for th e wrap up.
