Anderson (Moto-X Fox Yam ) won the 125cc and 250cc Pro classes while fellow Wa shingtonian SCOII T yler (Yam) of Ol ympia, won th e Open Pro class with a I-I tal ly. Paul W inn was one of a few riders that managed to clear th e double j um p s on his Yamaha 80. Winn easily outdueled th e field in both 80cc Expert/Intermediate rnotos on his Oakley/O'Neal-backed YZ. H e then hitlappers mid-way during each outingand easily beat Intermediates R yan Holm (Yam) and Kevin Hopson (Kaw). Washington 's Bruce Ba rnes (H a n) made a killing i the 125cc and 250cc Intermediate classes. In the 125cc portion, it was Barnes banzaiing into untouchable lea ds over Mike Bell (Han), who was to be Barnes' closest cornperiton both times out. Bell blew a second mota lead, letting Barnes past for a I- I romp of th e class. SteveBye (Kaw) th en n abbed Bell and took a 4-2 for third o vera ll , behind Bell 's 2-3. Barnes th en went to I-I rides in both 250 cc Interm edi ate outings. Chr is Leach (H u s) scored I-I for seco nd ove ra ll, an d M ike H olbroo k (H us) went 3-3 for third . Cook p laced second in th e first mota, th en was handed the victory when the front-runners cra sh ed in th e seco n d round. Greg Carso (S u z) led th e sta rt of moto o n e with Shawn H eit (Ya m), R eggie Kenny (Yam), and J aim Cartter (Han ) trailing. Heit stole th e-lead at th e end of th e first lap and qu ickly m oved away , while Cook m oved up to fourth as Kenny d ropped back . . Ov er th e next few laps H eit exten ded his lead a nd left Ca rso n , Carner. a nd Cook to fig h t fo r second, O n lap four Ca rtter we n t down, and Cook passed Ca rson soon after to la ke o ver seco nd . On the fina l lap H ei t bac ked off a nd Cook m o ved in , bu t H eir was in co n trol a nd too k th e win . Back in third . Carso n d ropped ba ck 10 Kenn y who gave h im a ra ce 10 the finish lin e. but the Suzuki rider h eld o n 10 lak e th e checkers first. At th e start o f m oto two, Ca rtier led Kenn y, Carson , a nd Cook o ff the line as H eit flo u nd ered n ea r last. The bad start didn't seem to affect H ei r though , as he moved th roug h th e pack a n d was in fou rt h at the end of lap o ne as Ken n y fell back to si xth . N ear the beg in n in g o f la p two, H eit moved by Cook a nd Carson the n set h is sigh ts o n th e lead er, Cartte r. H eit pursued Carner for th e next two la ps a nd was in posi tion lO mak e a m o ve by th e fift h lap. But in th e hills H eit gal 100 close, a nd when Ca rner crash ed H eit went down with him. Cook went by as H eit tried to untangl e h is' ma ch in e, a n d went on 10 tak e th e w in by a co m forta ble margin. H eit reentered the ra ce in fifth , th en m ad e it back up 10 thi rd behind Ca rson a t th e fin ish . H ei r's 1-3 wa s good fo r second overa ll , a nd Carson took third with a 3-2 sco re. In th e Open Intermed iat e class Brent Potter (Han ) p u lled off th e win with a 2-1 sco re . P aller trailed Su n west Yamaha 's Alan Coa ts for most of th e fi rst m ot o until he bail ed o n the la st lap. Paller had enough di stance o n Dean Wilk inson (G ea r/ H a n) 10 retain th e seco n d position. Coats led m ost o f th e second rn oto a lso, but p roblems o n th e la st lap a llowe d P aller 10 get by and tak e the w in .
