Meanwhile, up froOl, Lupine enjoyed a comfonable lead. With three laps remaining-, though, Lupine's lead was lightly shonened when a lapped rider cut into his line, forcing Lupine over a berm: He almost came lo a complete SlOp and then had 10 clutch-it back over the berm 10 reenter the track. Luckily for Lupine, he had enough insurance built up lo relain his lead. In the end, it was Lupine, Kelly, MOlle and Brock. Kelly grabbed the early lead at lhe SlaTl of lhe second mow and held on 10 il for lhree laps before he crashed leuing Lupine, Tuckerand Moue by. Once into lhe lead, Lupine quickly pulledaway, while Tucker and Motle foughl over second. Two laps from lhe finish, Moue dove inside of Tucker in a tight left turn for second. Soon after, Lupine crashed dropping lo lhird and giving Malle the mow win and overall. Tucker finish d second ahead of Lupine, Kelly and Brock. In the I25cc Jr. class, Matiasevich gOI 0[[ to a fair Slan and worked his way into second by the end of lhe first lap. However, a few turns laler, SI:IZUki-mounted Sean Sullivan slipped past Maliasevich, bUl Matiasevich relallialed a lap laler. Matiasevich lhen set after lhe leader, Johnny Bonacci (Hon). Halfway lhrough lhe eighl-Iap race, Bonacci and Matiasevich were handlebar-to-handlebar. On lhe lasllap, Maliasevich finally made his move and passed Bonacci for lhe lead. Matiasevich held on to lake lhe win ahead of Bonacci, Peler Slarman (Kaw) and SuJlivan. The second mow was all Maliasevich's: He led from Slan 10 finish, while Yamaha rider David Biesiada followed in second from a slighl dislance. Bonacci finished third ahead of Sullivan. Campbell takes cash from Kell at Corona By Mike Gillies CORONA, CA, DEC. 9 Corona Raceway hosted its second California Racing Club's daytime race loday on an improved track which featured new double jump and greal traclion, lhanks to good soil and careful watering. Kawa aki MOlors' Todd Campbell took advantage of lhe excellem condition by winning both l25cc Pro mows and roosting Kal-Gard's Mike Kell (Kaw) in the process. Greg Trachy (Kaw) flew up the long uphill slart to grab lhe first malO holeshot Wilh KelJ. Campbell, and Scou USA's Chris Taylor in hOI pursuit. Campbell snuck by Kell on the lhird lap and reeled Trachy in a few laps laler. Trachy was riding a bit wild and, lherefore, was hard lo pass, but Campbell managed to get by the squirrelly Kawasaki pilot and had smooth sailing lo the checkered flag for a firsl mow win. Trachy again grabbed lhe holeshol in round lWO, butlhis lime Campbell wasled no lime in passing him and seuing an unmalchable pace for the remaining laps. Kell was lasl o££ the slart but worked his way through lra££ic 10 pass Schae££er on lhe second lap and Trachy on the lhird. Kell almost kept time wilh Campbell through lhe I Dlh lap, when his slrength faded nOliceably, and lhe win again belonged 10 Campbell. Sunwest Yamaha's Mark Decker lop'ped the 250cc Pro class loday, and lhere was no doubt that he earned every cent of his winnings. uzuki of Riverside's Greg ash won the first moto wilh a comfortable lead, because Decker crashed halfway through race. 'In lhe second round though, Decker and Nash lreated the speclators 10 a knock down, drag out fight thaI had more than a few fans screaming and yelling for moral support. Things momemarily came 10 a hall when Nash auempled an outside pass and caused bOlh racers to crash.
