Hull also lOok the class win in the TT portion of the program. Chad McCraken, on a Yamaha, chalked up the win in the short track heat race ahead of Scott Williams, Hull and Greg Teague. Williams got the best SLart in the main followed by Hull, Tim Kay and McCraken. Mike Hale shot from fifth to second place down the back chute on lap one and Teague came from seventh place to Lake over fourth behind McCraken by the end of lap two. On lap three, McCraken took over second and Hull moved back into fourth ahead of Teague on lap fouT. Lap five was the only lap with no changes and on the last lap Hull shot his Gilbert Porting/AmsoillFort Worth Cycle Mart-sponsored Yamaha between leaders Williams and McCraken in the last corner to take the flag inches ahead at the line. Williams barely edged McCraken for second and' fourth place went to Teague. After finishing second behind Bobby Shaw in the l25ccTT heat, Kregg Bentley grabbed the lead on the first corner in the main, followed by Ed Meyer and Shaw. Meyer bobbled and went wide on the right-hand turn on lap two and Shaw took over to follow the leader Bentley. Follow the leader he rud, as Bentley held him off every lap to take the checkered flag first. Shaw finished in second place ahead of Meyer, with Brian Fleck fillingout the front fouT. Meyer got his own back in the 250cc Junior main after placing second behind Shaw in the heat race, with James Harris third. In the second heat, Bentley led Mike George and Randy Prince to the finish line. Meyer got the holeshot in the main ahead of George and Shaw, but the race had to be red-flagged when Bentley fell on the right-hand turn and another rider ran over him. TwoWheel World's Meyer again took the lead on the reSLart, followed by Shaw and Bentley. Bentley took over second before the end of the first lap and again held off Shaw to the end of the race. Charlie Orr again won the Trophy Dash on his Arlington Honda/RaceReady/Yelvy's Racing Heads XR500 Honda, pressured all the way by Stovall Cycles' Shon Stovall on a Yamaha two-stroke 490. Orr had a big led in the Open Pro short track main over the three-way race for second. Andy West look the flag ahead of Stovall and fourth place went to Scott Scherb. Ray wins D·37 Sunrise pot of gold By Charleen Ho ADELANTO, CA, SEPT. 16 With a fierce electrical storm and torrential winds, it was easy to see why Sunrise Valley Cycle Park outdid their pot of gold for the top Pro survivor; John Ray (I 25cc.Pro) earned the top day's honors by dominating both motos. Moto one found Jim Sendelbach (250cc Pro) driving hard into the first left hand sweeper. Hot in pursuit were John Ray (125cc Pro), Tony Bienert (125cc Pro) and Terry Ducher (25Occ Pro). Dave Eropkin (25Occ Pro), Gerry Lattimer (250cc Pro) and Scott Sewell (500cc Pro) tucked in close behind. Meanwhile, Jeff Capt (125cc Int) pushed hard to set the pace for fellow Intermeruates Nicky Pounds, Steve Sailing and Ty Davis. Ray overtook Sendelbach to grab the lead while Bienert, Ducher and Eropkin mainLained their pace. Lattimer and Sewell struggled for supremacy as Capt felt the pressure from Pounds. Sailing and Davis tuned into their grid. The Capt and Pounds duel grew intensely as other riders were pumped to win. Pounds pulled up alongside Capt through the whoop-dees to Lake the outside line. Capt dialed on his throttle through the left-hand line as Pounds cleared the lasl jump a wheellength in front of him. Ray staned to pull away from the pack as Sendlel bach tried to keep him in sight. Eropkin made his move on Bienen as the duo of Pounds and Capt surpassed Lattimer. Davis and Sailing pressed each other's lines. The laps ticked by with Victorville Suzuki's Ray, Sendelbach, Ducher and Eropkin styling. Pounds and Capt overtook the ailing Bienen, while Davis moved ahead of Sailing and Lattimer. Times became tense as Ducher sped past Sendelbach and Eropkin. Pounds, Capt and Davis set their pace while Bienen, Sailing and Lattimer kept each other in sigh t. At the checkers it was Ray, Ducher, Sendelbach and Eropkin for the Pros while Pounds, Capt and Davis took the Intermediate honors. With a turn for the worse in the weather, moto two brought fonh unforseen challenges. The track was slick and brought out the fittest of racers. Pulling ahead out of the first turn were Ray, endelbach and Ducher. Bienert, Eropkin and Lattimer kept close company. NoLfar behind were Pounds, Capt and Sewell. Ray and Sendelbach set a fierce pace as Bienert dove past Ducher, Eropkin and Lattimer. Times were hard for Ray and Sendel bach as Eropkin moved into the picture. Bienert held onto fourth as Lattimer, Pounds, Capt and Davis hung it out. The Intermediales were hot to 'trot as Pounds, Capt and Davis passed Lattimer. Ray built up a five-second lead on Sendel bach as Eropkin battled alongside. Pounds pressed past Biernen as Capt and Davis drew closer. Then, Capt and Davis overtook Bienert. At the finish it was Pros Ray, Sendelbach and Eropkin.
