Mo!'e rumors: Look for Honda to introduce a 380cc V-3 .treet bike loosely based on the NS600 GP race bike. That model probably won't make it to the U.S., but the VFR750 high-performance, race.tyled version of the Interceptor may. Also in the wings is a streetgoing version ofthe NSR600 V-4, the worldwide introduction delayed because Freddie Spencer and the NSR didn't win the World Championship this year. The four-hour endurance road race scheduled in conjunction with the September 15-16 Pro-Am at Willow Springs starts at I:30 and ends at 5:30 on September 15; according to promoter Jim Moore, the race time was changed from 4:00-8:00 p.m. by AMA officials who felt racingat sunset was dangerous. They must have missed the June 9-10 WERA 24-hours West at Willow. Brian Johnson (Kaw) notched the Top Fuel win at the September 8- 9 IDBA Championship Drag Racing Series round at Atco Raceway in Atco, New Jersey. Jimmy Adamo finished fourth in the September 2 Formula One National at Brainerd International Raceway aboard a Cagiva 500cc GP bike. Adamo rode the bike in the August 4 Pocono National.nd fini.hed ninth. The Cagiva feature. a rotary-valve square-four water-cooled engine, box .ection fr.me, massive cast .wingarm and a cantilever mono.hock rear .uspension. According to tuner Reno Leoni, the bike weighs 230 pounds and features an adjustable steering head, 18-inch cast wheels front and rear and a six-speed gearbox. Americans squeak to Motocross des Nations win RUSKEASANTA, FINLAND, SEPT. 9 The U. S. team won the Motocross des Nations for the fourth year in a row, besting the Belgian team by seven points, 41 to 48. Honda'. Johnny O'Mara, with a 4-8 tally, led the scoring by the Americans, while David Bailey took hi. Honda to 5-16 finishes, Kawasaki's Jeff Ward went 2-24, and Yam.ha's Ricky Johnson DNF the first moto after his bike.'s engine seized and then pieced seventh in moto two. IN MEMORIAM: According to CMC'. Stu Peters, Bart Tunick, creator of the Hawaii Alohacross in Honolulu last June, died Wednesday, September 6. Yamaha's range of 1985 motocrossers features a new rear suspension system that reduces compression damping whenever the rear brake is applied, eliminating rear wheel hop over bumps. The new system, similar in concept to the anti-dive seen in many street bikes, is linked to the rear brake by a rod; the amount compression damping is changed can be adjusted by a knob on the shock reservoir. The 1986 Yamaha YZ126, YZ260 and VZ490 all feature front disc brakes. running a 9.6-inch, 3mmthick disc with a twin-piston caliper: The disc brake and caliper weigh less than the drum brakes they replace. The VZ80 still has a drum front brake. The 1985 Yamaha YZ80 has a new engine with redesigned cylinder, cylider head, piston, exhaust system and reed valve. The bike also comes equipped with new 55mm forks. The entire range of 1986 Yamahas has new pla.tic reeds and change. to cylinder porting. And Yamaha's z-spoke wheels have bean strengthened with larger-diameter spokes with steel nipples.
