Danny Boles grabbed the holeshot then gave up the lead early but kept pace with Mitchell's Honda. Behind the £rant runners, Dennis Hannel and Greg PenningLOn, also on Hondas, bauled it out for third, changing positions five times but neither getting close enough LO pres ure the leaders. Late in the mota Boles began his charge for the lead. Racing tight on Mitchell's rear fender, Boles tried to pass on the inside, then the outside. He tried it all, but Mitchell kept closing the door. On the final lap, Boles finally got the better line inLO a corner, forcing Mitchell wide LO take the lead. The two were side by side over thedoublejumps with a half lap to go. By the time they cleared the next corner Mitchell had regained the lead and held on to a slim lead LO the finish. Hannel finished third, Pennington fourth. In the second maLO it was ,again Boles applying pressure late in the race to leader Mitchell. Boles got close, but not dose enough. Mitchell took them I-I for first overall, Boles finished 2-2 for second and Hannel 3-3 for third. Yamaha-mounted Phil Gribnau took the overall in the Open Intermediate class after two hard-fought motos. Gribnau start~d the first maLO in second, close on the leader Honda pilot Mike Lane. Halfway through the first lap Lane crashed, dropping the two early front runners to the back of the pack and allowing Steve Law to take over the front position. Gribnau remounted and took off, displaying the determination it takes to be a winner. By the last lap, Gribnau had caught up with Law's Maico and tried every trick in the book to put on the pass. but fell short at the finish. In the second maLO Gribnau and Lane bauled and diced for the lead all the way, with Gribnau finally taking the front position with an insidecorner pass in time LO hold on LO a slim lead to take first and win overall. Law placed second overall, Lane third. Results OPEN NOV: ,. Glen Radford (SUl). OPEN JA: 1. Mike Nissen (Hen); 2. Randy Gavron (Honl; 3. Robert Trabert (Vam). 250 NOV: 1. Jim Omarra (Han); 2.
