Durmas downs _ SRACMX By Larry Johnson BERTHO D, CO, A G.5 Denni Durmas could not manage a decen t stan in the 250cc Novice cla , but his efforts thereafter were more than adequate to earn him the overall victory in this port Rider Association of Colorado event. In moto one Durmas entered the picture by lap two when he moved to third. On the next lap he was in the lead, which he increased steadily to the checkers ahead of early leader Jim Dukes. Durmas gated eighth in moto two, but worked to fifth by the last lap. With Ie s then 100 yards to the flag, he made two passes to fin ish third behind overall runner-up Jim Melvin and Lyman Green. Don Doubleday and Tom Hollister diced to fir t and second overall respectively in the Vet Novice c1:tss. Holli ter grabbed the moto one holeshot and led until the fourth lap when he wa pas ed and beaten by James Wehl. Doubleday finished third, but in the next round he went nearly wire to wire for the win over Hollister. Hollister passed him on the third lap, but Doubleday quickly regained the lead and held off Hollister to the fJag. Doubleday' 3-1 topped Holli ter's 2-2. The 80c Novices were split into two group ,and Eri cheel took the early lead in moto one of the second group. He held on for four laps before being pa sed·by eventual winner Mike Solis, and Curt Foster. Mike Koskovich, who got a flat tire in moto one, led the second round from flag to·flag.
