Drake smoked all the Novices LD the first turn in the second mOLD, as did Intermediate Jerry Litteral's DMCprepared Yamaha. Laquerre was second, followed by Fitzgerald and Geraghty. Fitzgerald passed Laquerre on the first lap as did Geraghty. On lap two, the flying Fitz took the lead from Drake and set his sights on Intermediate Litteral. Drake held onto second until lap five when both Geraghty and Tucker slipped by. Fitzgerald was testing the limits of his new YZ80 by applying heavy pressure to Litteral's rear wheel and on lap six, his effons paid off when he snuck by on tile inside line. Unfonunately, Litteral crashed a few turns later and cruised for tile rest of the mOLD. The order at the checkers was Fitzgerald, Geraghty, and Tucker, with Drake a distant fourtll.
