Edge ANCHORAGE, AK, JUNE 24 With usual winner Jeff Roskelley taking the weekend off due to today's race being a nonpoints affair, the Pro class was up for grabs. Kawasaki Cycle Cache's Kelly BUller grabbed the lead of the first Pro moto, even after a collision with another rider at the start. Butler stretched out his lead and relaxed to"" comfortable pace. The dust was caus· ing visibility problems for those stuck back in the pack. One of those riders was Suzuki Motorcyele and Marine· sponsored Jim Stewart. Stewart used the braille method to keep up with Ralph Blanchard in third. The dust cleared for a minute when Blanchard overshot a comer, and Stewart took advantage of the situation. Soon Stewart was enveloped in Kevin Schaub's (Hon) dust traiL Stewart stuffed Schaub over a berm to move up to second before the moto ended. Moto two again found Butler in the number one position. A better start gave Stewart second place, with Schaub right on his trail. Stewart high.sided over a berm, and Schaub plowed into Stewart and his bike. Schaub was back up and running, but Stewart had to finish the moto with a rear flat and a mangled bike. Butler looked to be the winner again, but chain problems sent him to the pits with a DNF. Joe Good (Kaw) took hewin and the overall witha 4-1 score. Schaub put in two consistant rides to finish second overall at 5·5. Good was also hot in the l25cc Expen class. Butler won the first moto, but bike problems put him out of moto two. Good scored hi second overall win of the day with a 2-1. Blanchard took second despite riding with a badly-sprained ankle.
