Gardner moved up from back in the pack, passing the front runners one every two laps, to take over the point position, which he held to the finish. In the second go- 'round, Law once again had the lead. Avery, Nava, and Craig Christian ran second through fourth, until Christian experienced rear wheel problems and dropped off the pace. Law looked secure in the lead until Gardner shot by ava and Avery on a short traight. Then ava pulled out with a foot injury which he sustained in moto one. Law continued to lose ground to Gardner then on the last lap, over the last jump, Gardner tried a desperation pass for the lead. The duo tangled and went down.
