For the first few laps, the racers were single file; but on lap four, Corsetti passed Gresham along the back straight. As the two battled coming out of turn four, Gresham had the better drive. Gresham stuffed his wheel· under Corsetti's, and as they exited tum two, Gresham had regained the lead. Meanwhile, Gray was having troubles adjusting to his borrowed motorcycle and Kerr had pulled off with mechanical problems. At the halfway point, Gresham went on to win the main, with Corsetti and Gray rounding out the field. In the 250cc Novice main, Yamaha's Garnett Estes had an outstanding start. After completing the first lap, Estes led with Kawasaki's Shane Oldham giving the older Estes some heat. Estes led the entire eight laps, but he almost lost the race on the final lap. The former minicyde racer Oldham made a last-effort try going into turn three. Estes stayed inside, but Oldham tried a "John Allison" outside move. He almost lost it, but he held on 10 finish second. This gave Estes his second victory in a row. Results (Above) Darren Rupe riding the 126cc Novice cia.. in Alalke.
