Cooper decimated the 125cc Stock and 250cc Modified Pros and finished a close second to Dennis Daft in the 125cc Modified Pros during the two-day event. In the 125cc Stock Pros, Hondamounted Robert Felix holeshot moto one and led for over two laps until Cooper made his move. Cooper promptly crashed in the quad-doubles section, where Felix regained the advantage. Cooper quickly reeled him in and re-applied the pressure. Felix shipped off of his line but refused to let Cooper capitalize on the error. They were side-by-side through the next five turns. Cooper kept it pegged over a left/jump combo and literally sailed past Felix, only lo be repassed in the next turn. Cooper slipped past for good by the white flag and built a five-second cushion on the last lap. Mow two was all Cooper's. He led from start lo finish and crossed same 18 seconds ahead of Felix. Mow one of the 250cc Modified Pros started with another Cooper holeshot. While Cooper cruised to an easy win, Steve Bayless overcame an early-mow miscue to finish a distant second ahead of Paul Stine. Cooper ran away with mow two after a brief duel with Doug Fellers, who fell off of both his Kawasaki and Congratulations to Bel-Ray/Kawasaki Rider Jeff Ward on winning the Bel-Ray Grand National MX Series 125cc round at Buchanan, MI.
