The move didn't affect Robinson but it dropped Ferrell to the back and took him out of contention. Curo 0 had suddenly become the fa test "gladiator" on the tra k and he took second from Robin· son on lap three but there was no chance of catching Faria. "I won't be able to sleep for a week," said Mark Weaver after taking his first IMS Handicap main in his first Division One appearance. Not only did he win but he led the entire race. The race had to be restarted after one lap when Ferrell did some turn one stunt riding. Needless to say, he was excluded from the restart. Weaver (Jones Goggles/Kal-Gard Godden) went unchallenged until the final corner when Jim Lawson dosed but couldn't get Ibeextra drive to take the lead and was forced to settle for second. Dave DeTemple passed Faria on lap four to end up third. Bob Ott (Jones Goggles Wes) moved all the way from the 20 to win both his heat and the Second Division main. Ott pulled alongside early leader John Silva in turn three on lap two and found himself in the lead in turn four. Silva then managed to Ibrow it away big-time on Ibe (ront chute bUl walked away uninjured. Ott coasted to the checkered to win by a half straightaway over Tim McCasland and Bryce Eikelberger. Mark Maxstadt pushed hisJawa to win the Third Division main from the zero-yard' line. Eddie Marshall finished second behind Ibe mooth riding Maxstadt while Mike Dwyer, who earlier in the evening gave away the bride, changed from tux to lealbers to finish third. In the Scratch main the entire event looked likea two team event, as Paul Orlandi and Tom Ferris fought it out for first and second, and Pat Linn and Rocky Robinson, about half a straighaway behind, went tire to tire for third. Al the checkered flag Orlandi took the win, his first Napa cratch main of the season, Ferris was second, with the action between Linn and Robinson almost 100 clo e to call but the official finish listed Linn third. In Division Two, Mike oli, who looked 0 good in orCa I Division Three last week, proved that the promoter made no mistake moving him where he won the Division Two main.Dirck auer placed econd over Mark Zeissler. In the Division Three main, Bryan Henrik on wa the winner, Rich Simpson (who took home the honors last week) was second, and Jeff Santos was third. In Junior competition. Martin take first Auburn wins By Jann Houston AUBURN, CA, JUNE 8 Bart Bast, 17, looked and scored like his cousin Mike at Auburn, as he grabbed the checkered flag of victory in the Scratch main. Ba t took the lead at the start from the pole position, and rode close to the inside. Duane Yarrow applied the pressure on every turn, as Tom Ferri and John Volk fought il out for third and fourlb, posing no threat to the leaders. Steve Martin, new to the NorCaJ circuit this' season from Visalia, won his semi and prevailed under constant pressure from John Volk to win his first Auburn Handicap main event of '84. Volk was second and Steve Crawford was third.
