TErt 13TH ANNUAL YEARS AGO Riding a water-cooled Suzuki, Gary Nixon won tbe rain-shortened Loudon Road Race National. When the rain began to fall at the end of 14 laps, Nixon held a six-second lead over Yamaha's Gene Romero, with David Aldana third ahead of Kenny Roberts. In 250cc action, Gary Scott debuted the new water-cooled Harley-Davidson and won the Junior/Expert combined over Roberts and Ron Pierce. And in Novice action, Dale Singleton avenged his Road Atlanta defeat and took the win over Skip Aksland. A Junction City, Oregon, flat track event found Kawasaki rider Dick Asa in the driver's seat of the 250cc A main event, winning it over Bultaco riders Rick Oliver and Rob Muzzy.
