For Ballard, it was his first overall win since coming LO the U.S. early this year, and he and girlfriend Jenny SCOll were all smiles. For MelLOn hi score was good enough LO win the 500cc class by a comfortable 18 seconds over Hines. Husky rider Ray Mungenast finished fourth in the 500cc ranks behind Bertram.
