Richard Jackson and Gary Colbert were the victors in Class 38. Jackson and Colbert stretched their lead to seven minutes by the time they began the final circuit, and the Peral· ta/Dempsey team fell to 45 minutes in back of second. The positions held to the finish, with Jackson's Fabriform/Up-Tite Husqvama/Maxima-sponsored racer taking the checkered flag first in a time 01 six hours, 16 minutes, 15 seconds. Class 30 Subith and Harris were on the fourth Class 30 bike to leave the start· ing area, and were just 45 seconds shy of physically taking the lead by the time they crossed start/finish again. From there on, they pulled out from the other four entries Qujte steadily un til the fi njsh. The Dave Gruver/Art Day XR500R ran well until encountering problems on the third loop, and fell well off the pace to finish fourth. Riding a steady race, but finishjng 54 minutes adrift the leader was the third place Honda 'ridden by Dennis Greene and Randall Jordan. They trailed by 40 minutes, the Victorville, California·based team of Anderson and Carlton, that finished second. Class 20 "We must've had a good ride, we won, didn't we?" said Ed Foland, with a chuckte, shortly after the completion of race. Although they averaged only 48,411 mph, the Cagivamounted team finished seven minutes Quicker than Buckley's Honda. Winners of the last SCORE event, Keith and Kevin Senn, didn't have things going their way this time, While pre-running earl ier in the week, Kevin crashed, suffering a broken femur. Michael Goodwin was called in to take over the riding chores, but to no avail. They failed to complete even the first lap. The race was fairly uneventful for the small-bore class, with each team moving at its own pace throughout the entire race. At the finish, only one hour separated the five finishers. _ o \QB3.
