UNUMITED SINGLE SEATERS FORMULA 10 AND GRAND NATIONAL SPORT TRUCKS By Jann Houston AUBURN, CA, MAY 18 John Yolk and Paul Orlandi . were the winners of the Handicap and Scratch main events, respectively, as the Auburn speedway season movedinto its second week. In the 'Cap main, Yolk LOok the lead from the gate. Harlan Bast Jr. moved up to challenge him, but Volk stayed down on the pole and kept his guard up. Bast had his own pressure to deal with as Steve Crawford rode right on his tail. At the finish it was Volk still out front, but only by half a wheel. In'the Scratch main Orlandi gated well from the number three spot and took the lead. Unlike his competition, Orlandi rode the outside line, and it worked [or him. He took the checkered first, while Marc Prince was a hair-raising second over David Faria Jr. and Tom Ferris. In the Second Division main, Ross Eichelberger led start LO finish to record the victory over Charlie Haines and David Chaidez. Former MX stat Dave Coupe, in his speedway debut, won the D-3 main to show his potential; aided no doubt, by Orlandi's coaching. In the other main event, for the Junior speedway riders. Scott Brant was up to his usual winning ways. • Results SCRATCH MAIN: 1. Paul Orlandi: 2. Marc Prince: 3. David Faria Jr.; 4. Tom Ferris. HANDICAP MAIN: 1. John Volk: 2. Harlan Bast Jr.; 3.
