In The By Tom Corley ORANGE, CA, APR. 8 Honda-mounted David Bagwell used a 1-2 tally today to capture the win at the 250cc Beginner class at California Racing Club's SaddJeback MX. Bagwell had to contend with sti(( competition by Ronald Williams and "Fly'n Hawaiian" Bob Michael. When the gate dropped (or the stan o( the (irst moto, Michael shot into the lead, while Handy Hickalow (500cc Beginner rider) followed in second. However, Hickalow went too wide around a turn allowing Bagwell to mOlOr by. Then a duel for the lead took place between Michael and Bagwell, but when the checkered flag came out, Michael managed toddend his lead and take the win. Bagwell took second while Ronald Williams, Mark Gibson and Dennis Agius followed. The start of the second molO saw Jeff Daniels take conuol of the lead while Agius, aboard a KTM, settled into second. Bagwell, after a thirdplace stan, reeled in Agi us and passed the KTM pilot for second_ Time ran out for Bagwell to catch up to Daniels, who went on 10 take the win. Daniel finished a disapointing ninth in the first molO, which enabled Bagwell to take the first-place uophy. Williams finished third ahead of Michael and Gibson. Jeff Harriott topped both mOlOS of the Veteran Master class but nOl without some chal lenges by Nick Costello and Russ Robinson. In the first molO, Costello chased Harriott for the lead but was passed by Jody Weisel. However, Weisel wasn't much of a threat to Harriott as the leader went on to take the win ahead of Weisel, Costello and Robinson. Costillo jumped into the lead at the start of the second moto, with Harriott and Robinson hot on his rear fender. Costillo's lead was brief when Harriott slipped by. Harriott suetched his lead from then on and easily took the win. Costillo held on for second ahead of Robinson and Weisel. Results 60 NOV: 1. Dennis Dahlin (Kaw); 2. Lucky Row· land lKaw); 3.
