and was now third overall and second
25Occ. Duane Summers had his C
bike out in the lead of this class and
came by at fourth overall. Alexander
had moved up to (ifth with Paiemem
sixth. Bill Becker had a near miss
with a rider, having to "lock it up"
and luckily just LOuching the guy's
rire. Becker was running in the lucky
seven spot. It was Phil Cloward and
Ashcraft coming by at eighth and
nimh. Ashcraft had already made a
rire change.
Darryl Ellis was leading the vets in
the Open class. In the Vet 250cc class
it was Tom Maddox who sri II had the
handle over Russ Jones. Open rider
Ron urber was leading the Seniors,
with Ron Hall out in front in the
250cc Senior class. Jim Bringhurst
was leading the Seniors umil he
pulled imo check two with no check
one on his tank card. He thought he
had missed check one and pulled out
of the race umil he fond out there was
no check one. Diane Holeman had a
nice lead in the women's race.
Alter running out of gas Roeseler
was lucky to have someone give him
enough gas LO make itLO his alternate
pit. After refueling, Roeseler came in
for the overall win. It's nOl often that
a 250cc rider has taken the overall
win in a District 37 race, so Larry
now joins this elite group. Pettigrew
pulled in for the second overall and
first Open on a back nat. "It was
rough especially with a nat," said
Pettigrew," but my Can Am performed great. I want LO thank Apple
Valley Cycle." Mike Alexander did
some super riding and moved up to
take a third overall, second Open for
Momclair Yamaha.
After a near collision when both
riders over hot the course, Dan Ashcraft and Dave Wasden pulled in for
fourth and fifth. Paiemem took sixth
followed by Krause and Cloward.
Ken Oviau moved up to take nimh.
In the Novice race Ken Gauthier
moved up LO take the overall win
with a five-and-a-half minute lead
over Robert Hundtoft who took second. First Open Vet Novice was C.
Wahl. Riding his first ra e in 10
years, Dave Withrow returned a winner taking first in the 250cc Vet
Beginner class. Chris Sain had a perfect ride, taking first in the women's
Novice class.

Roeseler breaks loose
for Moose Run win

RED MOUNTAIN, CA, FEB. 12
Larry Roeseler scored another
overall D-37 win, but for a
change of pace he did it on a
250 Husky at the 100-mile Four
Aces Moose Run. This was the 34th
running of the classic event, but for
the first time it was also held as a
memorial to Freddie Ellsworth.
When the banner dropped it was
Dan Smith (Hus) taking the lead
with Chuck Pettigrew (C-A) second.
Running third out past the bomb
was Dan Ashcraft (Hus). At this poim
Paul Krause led the 250cc class. In
between 250cc hOlShoes Krause and
Derrick Paiement was Open rider
Ron Shuler. Mike Alexander was
running sevemh at this poim and
leading the C bike race was Tom
Elias.
In the ovice race, past the bomb it
was Open rider Gabe McNeese out in
the lead. Jeff Dorler was on the gas
and had his 250 Honda running
second overall. Ken Gauthier and
Robert HundLOft, both 250cc riders,
were running third and fourth.
After 45 miles Smith still had the
lead but with a flat back tire. In the
wheel change process Smith found
that the wheel would not fit, and his
ride ended. As the riders came through
homecheck it was now Peuigrew leading Roeseler. These two would be
dicing for the lead during the last
