Second went to Mark Adent on a new 250 Penton, followed by first Amateur Bob Balentine. Bruce Ogilvie wrung the heart out of his 100 HarleyDavidson Baja, winning the Trailbike class at eighth overall. ~ l-< ("lj ;:j l-< ..c Q.) ~ AI Baker and Steve Holladay teamed up on a factory 450 Kawasaki to take the win in the SCORE Parker 400, finishing' about 30 minutes ahead of the Husqvarna of John Watkins and Todd Martella. The I25cc-class-winning Honda of Curt Skinner and Donald Feldscher finished third overall among the motorcycles. In southern California trials action, Bultaco-mounted Bernie Schreiber broke the ATA winning streak of Montesa rider Marland Whaley, winning the Expert class with a score two points lower than that turned III by Whaley. The 1973-74 American Indoor Short Track Series season came to an end in Portland, Oregon, with Honda rider Dave Hansen winning the main event. Rick Hocking took runner-up honors on a Suzuki, followed by the Yamaha of Dana Perri. Honda riders Bruce McDougal and Chuck Bower finished 1-2 in. the 125cc Pro class of a CMC night motocross at Irwindale. Yamaha rider David Taylor took a third behind the factory riders. In the 125cc Expert class, Honda-mounted Mike Bell came up the winner. Sterling Cogar rode Hondas to wins in twO minicycle classes at a Mini World MX at Saddleback Park. Runner-up to Cogar in the 81 cc class, Todd Peterson returned to win the 125cc motorcycle competition. "Two Dans" Ride 500 XC to Parker 400 Victory Husqvarna ream riders Dan Smith and Dan Ashcraft took their founh consecutive major off-road victory as they rode their 500XC into the winnerli circle ar the 1984 Parker 400. Smirh and Ashcraft combined superb physical conditioning, mental toughness vast experience (and a Husqvarna) to take the victory in the face of tremendous competition. Snarr rode a Steens in that event, but switched to a Honda for the 1000c Junior class, where he finished second behind Bill Johnson. Yamaha-mounted Tom Berry took the 250cc half mile portion of a CMC event at Ascot Park, besting fellow Yamaha pilots Scot Marshall and Robert Murray. In the TT portion, Earl Roloff (Yam) won the 500cc class while Mike Minnig (Kaw) and Eddie Lawson (Yam) finished 1-2 in the 125s. An NRA motocross at Indian Dunes saw Honda rider Dave Arnold winning the 250cc Intermediate class. On who was riding what when, it was expected that Australian National Road Race Champ Gregg Hansford would have a Yamaha TZ750 for Daytona. Dick Mann and Pat Evans were also to be riding Yamahas, reportedly for Don Vesco. 3
