· Defending Supercross Champ David Bailey fell once in the final, but recovered for fourth. His plates are Wrangler blue and yellow. Quarter finals In the quarter finals, the top four transferred to the semi finals, where the top nine would make it to the main. The first quarter final moto saw Mike Larson steal the holeshot, but he was pas ed by Pete Snorteland a half Lap later. Yamaha's Keith Bowen got in on the act bu t crashed trying to pass Larson. For the remainder of the race, Snoneland and Larson battled tightly; switching leads many ti meso In the end it was Snarteland who eme.rged on top ahead of Larson. Eric Kehoe LOok an early lead at the start of the second quarter final and looked to have the win in the bag. But halfway through the race, he crashed through t.he long whoop section and handed the lead LO Suzuki-mounted Gary Bowman. Bowman managed to hold on to his lead for the win. Brian Manley, after nipping Storbeck with three laps left, took second. Doug Hoover finished third ahead of Mark Howell. Semis When the gate dropped forthe start of the first· semi final. Hannah put his factory Honda LO the front of the pack while O'Mara. Mike Larson, Lechien and Hicks followed, On the first lap, O'Mara passed Hannah in the whoops while Bailey overtook Hicks, Larson and Lechien.
