Tom Carson churned ahead of Scooter tafford, Reinholt, Barr and David Ciancio in. the opening 250cc A volley, leaving Rice in a first-turn pileup and a DNF. Stafford's S&:S Yamaha beat Carson out of turn three and paced the field. "I knew I could run with them if I could only get a good start," said tafford. Reinholt gained ground and passed Stafford on the final lap for the win. HiPoint/Wheels of Oxford-sponsored Dave Hollis charged back for a founh place [in ish. "I had mud in my eyes and couldn't see," said Hollis. Carson's premature maLO two start caused a restart, but he blitzed the pack for the third time in the restan, leading Stafford, Reinholt, Hollis, Rick Lindell and Frisl. Rice and Stafford took brief moments of glory until Reinholt took overon lap three and held on to win. "I have the '84 Hondas now," said Reinholt. Brown's performance earned him overall honors in the series. Canada's Many Horik doesn't understand much of the English language, but he communicates well on the track, as he took the I25cc B series win. Macon, Georgia's Tony BuHard used a Jeff Hill's Performance Cycles KTM LO win both moLOS. "I've never had a press conference before," said Bullard. "This is neat." Any Coker won both I25cc C moLOS; but his Honda of Leesburg teammate, Graham Kimble. had the distinction of nabbing the eries crown without an event win. "I just hung in there," said Kimble. "We had close racing all winter." Capitol City Honda mechanic Kevin Brule of Macon, Georgia, won two honors - the Open Novice series crown and another for having the most women in one van. Brule had to ballle Matt Fenton for the class win. Nonh Carolina's Rodney Barr joined the circuit and passed Jeff Frisz to win the first 125cc A malO. Allen Semar, Mike Crane, Mark McLaren, Jeff Surwall and Brian Stanley joined the chase. Frisz found a flaw in Barr's riding on lap seven, bu.t Barr fought back for the win. Tom Rice lost his first I 25cc A mota of the series. "I fell and got my foot caught in the rear wheel," said Rice. ''I'm looking forward to racing Reinholt in the 250cc class. MINI A: 1.
