[n the ballie of local Experts. Guy Cooper is currently at the top. His recent switch to Honda red hasn't slowed him at all. [n the first goaround of the 250cc Expert class, Cooper and Yamaha-mounted Dennis Daft hit the first corner together. Daft couldn't make the first turn and reentered the track in fourth place. As Cooper buill his lead, Daft began a furious charge towards the front. By the end of lap two, Daft moved into second, A distant second LO be sure, but he wouldn't quit. Cooper kept up' the pace and in spjte of his best eUorts Daft couldn't close the gap, Then II happened! With one lap to go, Cooper's engine gave up the 'ghost and Daft had the win. Round two featured Daft out in front of the Experts, with Cooper spectating. Cooper's Honda didn't fajl him in the 125cc Expert class and the fustround holeshot was his. Right behind was the Yamaha of Daft. The pair quickly left the pack and carried their personal combat to the limit. Lap after lap Daft would close on Cooper only to have Cooper come up with a lillie extra speed. Daft pressured every lap looking for just one opening: It never came and Cooper won the first round. The second round was almost a phOLO copy ofthefirst. Daft never gave up but he just couldn't get past Cooper, and Cooper never even missed a.gear on his way to victory. Results MINI MINI: 1. Austin Honda ace Brad Burnie put weeks of frustration behind him this evening with a convincing win over Hank Hodes in the 250cc Intermediate class. Burnie had suffered more than his share of mishaps and malfunctions in the recent past but was in total control on the way to the overall win, Although he finished first both times out, Burnie was sorely pressed by Hodes. Hodes could not make a pass stick in the second round, repeatedly challenging but unable to get by. For his part, Burnie was superlative in being able to handle the constant pressure. Donnie Prado had third overall cinched with a lap remaining in the second stanza but a
