The new corJXlration, jointly -owned by Pace and SMC, is to be called International Sports, or InSJXlrL It will be headed by Gene Trobaugh, who resigned hi seaton theAMA'sBoardof Trustees to take the JXlsition. Establishing the new company was the latest happening in a chain of events that began with the AMA's announcement that it would not sanction any SMC events. Shortly afterward, Pace and SMC began their partnership and negotiations began wilh the AMA over the control of stadium events. According to an AMA press release, negotiations were on a daily basis from October 7 until they were terminated November 28. The press release quoted AMA Board of Trustees president John Hasty as saying, "Throughout, we negotiated in good faith and in the best interesl of the motorcycle sJXlrt.
