Mike Preston took the lead, followed by Allen Silhanek, Jon Nelson, and Tom Dalzill. Silhanek squeezed by for the lead on lap one and Nelson jumped in for the second spot. In the meantime, Kimo Casey moved through the pack to fifth behind DalzilJ. Nelson took over the lead on a tremendous downhill leap and Silhanek continued to stick like glue. Silhanek managed to keep the pressure on and took over the lead again. At the top of the uphill, Preston cut to the inside and took the second spot from Nelson. Casey passed Dalzill and duplicated Preston's pass on the uphill to go by Nelson. Silhanek and Preston finished the last few laps side by side over the jumps, with Silhanek getting the checkered flag, followed closely by Preston and Casey. . Cory Cantaloupi pulled to the lead in moto twO followed by Casey, Silhanek and Preston. Preston passed Casey on the dowrthill when Cantaloupi fell, lowing up Silhanek. Casey stayed on the Kawasaki's fender and made the pass for first after"chickencoop" corner. Just returning from a short stay in the hospital, Casey couldn't keep the pace and pulled orr {or Silhanek and Preston to continue their duel. Preston took the lead on the tOP of the hill, Silhanek gained it back on the whoops. It was back and forth, but Silhanek took the win again, followed by Preston and Kevin Fields, which also turned out to be the overall finishing order. Rid...: Jerry Greer. Com'ersations before race time revealed that Christian is seeking major sponsorship for 1984 and wanted to establish his seriousness by performing well in the few weeks remaining in 1983. In winning both motos, Christian was able to keep John Dauth in second and Jef£ Holder in third in both motos. He was clearly not to be denied victory. The largest entry again was in the 125cc Junior division, and this class was headed by Mike Fruzen.
