CA 90058 (2131 141·5173 " k beneath the surface; Jet the several quality of a n t.ltmgnor its worth escape thee," te Marcus Aurelius Anton Js more than 1800 years ago. It's a s e bet the Roman emperor and philo opher never threw a leg over a firebr~thing GP-style road racer, but h#! he suited up for such an endeavor he would have liked the ]ollispQ't road racing gloves - they are qyt! ity items. Imply put, the Italian-made glpves, imported to the U.S. by Quadrif/:?glio Inc., are a joy to wear. The pair we ordered were conslTUcted of striking white leather with blue and rea accents sewn on. For protection irf a crash, the gloves are gauntlet st),; e with a full-length zipper so the rig's wrists are' kept covered in a long slide along the pavement. In addition the palm areas have extra thicknesses of leather and a series of rn Lal studs for more resistence to al)psion. All seams, except in the thumb area, are sewn on the outside, sci all the wearer feels is smooth I~er when the gloves are on. ',,:rrhe only problem - if you can caU it that- we had with the ]ollisports was the white leather in the p~1m areas getting a lillIe grungy looking with use, thanks to the black rubber from hand grips rubbing off. To combat that problem, the ]ollispot:ts are also available in black. GIven a choice, though, we'd still opt fori the white models; they really are good looking. We've used the gloves for our twisty road excursions and a road racing school and can report thatlhe gloves are extremely comfortable in addition to allowing a good feel for the controls. The extra peace of mind that comes from knowing that your hands are well protected helps as well. The asking price of $39.95 seems reasonable, considering that most mot<><;ross or regular street gloves are priced in the same range or just below the ]ollisports. We liked the gloves a lot. They're a regular part of our street-riding allire, and we wouldn't venture onto a race track without them. For more information on the gloves, contact Quadrifolglio, Inc. at 5745 N. lIth St., Phoenix, AZ, or give them a call at 602/265-5846. Pi!Vi.d ,EIIWa" BeeaDII ODeea mODtb is Dot eDoagb.
