Kawasaki's Jimmy Weinert grabbed the holeshot in the first moLO and Led right up to the last lap before he fell and wound up third behind Maico's Ailolph Weil and Husky's Arne Kring. Both of those riders D F the second moto, so Weinen was content to [01low second-moLO winner Pierre Karsmakers (who DNF the first round) and take the overall win, the first for an American. Maico's Gerrit Wolsink turned in a 4-3 for second overall, followed by Maico rider Gary Jones. Rich Eierstedt rode his Honda to all three moLO wins in the 250c Support class, good enough for the overall. ONE man ONEmachin ONE desert" ONE way While Bultaco rider Randy Myers clinched the CMC number one plate with a ninth in the 125cc Experts, Danny LaPorte was the star of the day on a pair of Pentons. LaPone topped Murray HoUman (Yam) and Marty Smith (Mnk) in the 125cc Experts, then turned around and won the 250cc Expert class over Morris Malone (Yam) and Dave Pessy (Hon). Husky-mounted Brad Hurst captured the Open Expert win in a TRA motocross near Eugene, Oregon. Finishingas runners-up in the class were CZ pilots Charles Standifer and Jack Heeter. Hurst also captured a second in the 125cc Expert class behind Yamaha rider Craig Praus.
