Can CAMA come? Il is unfortunate that the Classic and Antique Motorcycle Association show will not be in Hanford, California, in 1984. The people of Hanford enjoyed having 6000 motorcyclists visit their city the last two years, and want theCAMA show every year. Hanford's location is perfect for the show, since it is centrally located and offers beautiful surroundings, The problem is raising enough money to finance the promoters bringing their group to Hanford. The' 1984 costs were $5400 and this has to be donated, or raised from food concessions the weekend of the show. Han' ford's problem is that no one business or group benefits enough to put up this amount of money for the CAMA show. Hanford's group is willing to furnish all trophies and provide a great party for the promoter and his staff! Can all of theCAMA members join together and help finance the show? The residents of Hanford want the show here, -and would like to hear from any person or group who could bring a motorcycle show to Hanford each year. CARL NELSON Hanford, CA Seeing is believing While at the recent Check Chase starting area, I could not believe my eyes when I saw a red Ford van being pull-started by a BLM truck I (And didn't even charge him.) "SUZUKI" ART Adelanto, CA Superbike Support . I wish to thank the racers that made up the Honda Superbike Support groups: John Bettencourt, whose consistency and speed are increasing; Roberto Pietri, who's a gas on and off the track; and Sam McDonald, last year's Formula II National Champion and fourth overall this year in his first season racing Superbikes. Sam's brother Phil wrenched for Mike Baldwin's Formula I and Superbike campaign and earned Honda's Mechanic of the Year award. Overall, I think its been the best year I've seen in Formula I, II and Superbike racing. Lets·all hope for the best in '84. And speaking of next season, watch out for Sam McDonald, he'll be moving like a Tulsa Tornado - fast and awesome. DAVID WALDORF always teady to help the next kid whoever he might be, and whatever brand of motorcycle he might be riding. They were the best crew ever assembled for a racing effort. We will never be able to thank them enough. Thanks to the amateur event promoters whom we worked most closely with - the Surbers of the GNC, the Coombs of the AMA, the Bill We group ({ar too many to possibly name), the Morewoods and Ted "Hennerson" of the NMA, Armin Hofhsteder and that great crew at Harrisburg, the list goes· on and on. To the riders, we say, plea ere· member that these great people put their 'money and effort out up from and run good programs for you,. Without these great people you would have no opportunity to improve OT indeed to race. You need 10 say thanl
