California Racing Club motocross at Indian Dunes. Huston took his Yamaha to the 80cc Stock Beginner division one victory plus the 80cc Modified Beginner win. With these two wins Huston joins only a few whocan claim that they have doubled at the Dunes. Mike Henson was Huston's competition in the Modified class, but he took a DNF in the final and the win went to Huston. Several riders were out to get Huston in the Stock race with Scott Yardley being the runner-up in both motos, while Kenny Powell actually led the final moto for one lap. Huston shot down both Yardley and Powell to reign in the Modified ontesl. All of the 125cc Beginners got exactly what they wanted_ RobSassen has been the man to beat in the Beginner class with numerous wins to his name. Tonight Sassen advanced to the 125cc Novice class where he faced some stiffer competition. Cagiva-mounted Sassen, who was listed as one of the "Beverly Hills Boys," didn't let these faster riders cramp his winning style. Sassen took the overall win and looked ready to move up to the Intermediates! In the opening round of action, Hondamounted Paul Thompson took the win ahead of Sassen and Glenn Gordy, who is known as "Flash Gordon." In the final bout, Gordy held the lead until Sassen overcame him to snatch the lead. Through the finish, it was Sassen, Gordy, Scott Rowland and then Thompson, who won the first moto.
