mile races a year, two of which were
in San Jose and one in Sacramento.
This year, however, I attended ~
National on the west coast includiDB
the three. Ascot races and road J'lKd.
After realizing the amount of money
I had spent on travel, hotels, fOOll.
and the races themselves I am
eagerly awai ting next year so I can 110
it again.
One particular pan of a Camel Pro
Series ational that I look forwardto
is during practice when Roxy R
wood's voice breaks into the air.
Roxy has a way of setting the s~
for a race that will continue only as
long as Roxy is the voice of the serie,s.
After 25 years of firing up crowds
way only he and the riders can, I (ltr
tainly hope Roxy continues for another 25 years.
"The National Papers" column is
unmistakably Roxy Rockwood style,
and I enjoy every column. As I read
some of the columns it reminds
any number of Nationals I've been--at
where a heat race has six former mile
winners, and on lap nine, four of
those previous winners come out of
turn four all within a bikelength.
Roxy would say "Here they come;
