Flores, Coleman fill top spots at Baylands By Bill Spencer FREMONT, CA, AUG 3 As the Thursday night Baylands CMC motocross season works its way down toward the fall season,. 15-year-olq Tony Flores works his way up the 125cc Pro ranks, and tonight Larry Coleman found himself the overaIr winner in the 250cc Pro show despite a protest. Craig Christian holeshot the firSt 125cc Pro round and motored off to an easy win on his Cycle Gear/Karl's Motors Yamaha, with Tony Flores doing some grandstanding in thel opening laps and then lucking into a second when Danny Boles and Paul Duchscher tried to run each other over and succeeded in running off the track at one point. In the second round, Phil Cancilla and Tony Flores Sr., must have had a good counseling talk, as Flores rode the wheels off his Palo Alto Yamaha. He has fast become the local favorite~ especially with the grandstand folb next to the double jumps where he is high, wide and handsome. Flores look the overall with a 2-1 over Christian, with Boles third over Duchscher. Jerome Heiberger rode his Paul Bostrom/Contra Costa Honda around the first two 250cc Pro turns like he was ready for the payoff, but got stuck on the outside berm and behind traffic_ Larry Coleman and his new Husky had little trouble from that point, despite confronting Jeff Watts and Craig Christian along the way. "I lost a fork seal toward the end and wasn't sure it would make the second round, " Coleman commented. .Despite a poor start he motored along in the second moto, with Heiberger winning the round very big and Coleman dicing with Christian. Christian had second going easily as Coleman moved ever closer on each lap. Just two laps from the white, Coleman made a bold move and passed underneath the YZ, witli" Christian giving a very quizzical look. to the move and a discussion with referee Rick Wilson after thechc:eker. The two riders made contact at the point of pass and a decision moved Coleman back to third but not out, as referee Wilson stated, "Larry said he rode where the track wasn't, but it wasn't an intentional cheat so I moved him back to the place he was in before
