John Conney (Kaw) continued to dominate his new competition in the 125cc Intermediates. JolIn Turdo CVem~ Allman's all-soeas, Dunes win By Tom Corley VALENCIA, CA, JULY 22 KaI GardlVan Nuys Suzukisponsored Kevin._A.ll.man.. . a r engaged in his final race as 250cc Intermediate and left the class in winning style. Allman came from behind in both motos and defeated Yamaha rider Cam Johnson and Bruce Hiroshima for the overall win in California Racing Club Motocross under the lights at Indian Dunes. In the opening round of action, Allman had a sixth-place start, but soared past several nden down the second straight. Hiroshima and t Johnson had the lead positions, but it wasn't long before Allman took' away from them. Allman zapped Johnson, who went over a berm and slid out. Hiroshima fell prey to. Allman on the right-handed fishbowlsweeper. Whmtheycametothe .finish line. it was Allman, Johnson and Hiroshima. Hiroshima got the jump on the pack in the final round of action. Allman was after him and made his move on the tum past the score towei' straight. Allman held the lead, with 1 Johnson soon passing Hiroshima as H well. Two wins earned Allman his last 250cc Intermediate viClory. Now it should be interesting to see how t: well he does in the 250cc Pro class against the likes of Jim Holley and Kelly Pugmire. The second-place trophy was handed out to Johnson, r who edged out Hiroshima. Frank Costanzo and Mark Wedernan. Suzuki of Glendale rider Craig White was a most-successful l25cc Novice until the CRC advanced him to the Intermediate class. and now it seems he is destined to become successful in that category as well. Tonight was his third race and he led the more experienced riders in both motos. White forfeited the win due to a bike failure in the opening round, and Mark Harwell became the top finisher.
