LOUIS Rick Gunderson aced both l 25cc Professional motos at Emerald Racin g Association's next-to-last motocross race of th e 1982-83 seas on on his Yamaha of Springfield YZ 125. The I25cc Novice class la urels went to Matt Ra mey, a lso o n a Yamaha , on a day that lo ok ed to be "an udder mudder, " but tu rn ed out to be quite ni ce once th e clo uds rolled by a nd sprea d a little ram. - J eff Daily (Easts ide Kaw /Miller Products/Hi-Point/Kaw )a n d Ramey got th e fans o n th eir feet during the Mini Int ermed ia te se t o r mo to s. Ramey o nce again tra iled across the line and ta llied a 2-2 for seco nd beh ind Daily's card of I-I. T he o nly Pro cl ass wa s a good -size 125cc Iield . due to the running of th e G old Cup series so me 150 mil es up 1·5, which has always been a big dr aw to th e Pro s, but didn 't a ffect th e Am a teurs. In th e first Pro round, " Radica l" Ri chard Earle pu t hi s Honda into th e lead followed by local Eu gen e speed sters Larry Brumwell and Gunderso n , wh o £illed th e 2-3 posi tions. Earle led it Ior a la p until co mi ng past the towers a nd makin g a slight bo bble, enough to let Gu nderson put his Yamaha into the lea d a nd let Brumwell close in o n the H on da pilot. G unde rso n opened up so me 20 seco nds o nt th e field and took the wi n wh ile thi ngs got very close between Earle and Bru mw ell. Brumwell m ad e a p ass two turns befo re th e chec kers, bu t Earl e re turn ed th e fa vor fo r seco nd-p lace mot a money. Brumwell was th ird, Terry Bak er fourth a nd Randy Sidwe ll fifth . Mot a two had Earl e aga in get th e jump. but on ly to tu rn one wh en Gudnerson took over Ior th e duration of th e even t, proving his dorni n ation since moving up from the Intermediate ranks this season. H e copped the m oto twin for a double moto blitz with Brumwell winning out in his fight with Earle for second and a 3-2 over Earle, who posted a 2-3 for third. Ra mey was mounted on a 125 for the I 25cc/250cc J u n io r contest. The forme r mini ace took ho lesh ot honors despite hi s I25cc h andica p an d led it all the way, pu llin g away from the larger bikes. which didn't h ave the advantage o n the dry track. H ad it been wet, well , it wo uld have been another story! Ra mey copped the win over the 250 Yamaha of Stan McN u lty in rnoto o ne and came right back where he left off in moto two for a I-I bliu. • ....
