Expert l25 cc rider Dre y Dircks, disgrunt led after a 48 mediocre fini sh in the first Stock moto on a borrowed, fresh- out-ofth e-box bike, swi tched mounts for th e second moto, and won. Needless to say, h e was disqualified, but he really had nothing 10 gai n or lose . In for the first moro, Jonnie Deremo jell ed a hea d o f Ri chie Dobbs, Bill Dahan a nd Chappy Blose. Blose displ aced Da lton and began to pressure Dobbs for second while Dererno got some breathing room up front . Robert Mason , new Arizona 125cc cha m p, a nd Dircks sta rted 10 move up a fter mid-pack sta rts while Blose g OI by Dobbs on wh at turned out 10 be his main passing spot. H e kept the gas on o ver th e back secti on double jumps to take seco nd. On th e n ext la p h e d id th e same thing 10 Derem o for th e lead . At th e same time, Mason had gotten by Dobbs for third an d . with Dalton close in lOW , th ey got by Dererno to pressure Blose. Mason followed for a few laps, a nd th en gass ing it down th e hill , shoved hi s Yarni e pa st Blose in th e one-line, Svturn 10 tak e th e lead . As Mason pulled a slig h t lead , Dahan push ed Blose in seco nd. With one turn left in th e m oto, Dahan slid 10 th e in sid e a nd left third 10 Blose. Dircks foll ow ed in fou rth . In th e seco nd rna to Dircks took th e lead on hi s Suzuki a n d muscled hi s way around the track for th e unoffi cia l win . After Di rcks wa s disquali fied , Blose had th e o fficia l win and Mason rode lo a seco nd for th e overa ll win. Bobbv White slid a round Dobbs for a third a nd third o vera ll while Dahan had problems and took six th for a fourth . The top local riders in California Racing Club 125cc Pro racing came and were defeated by H onda 's Erik Kehoe. Incl uded in the list of top riders th at Kehoe shot down were: Roger Hensley, the number one plate holder in CRC, Chris Heisser from Suzuki an d World Mini Champ Pa u l Den is. When the 125cc Pro pack became visibl e while heading down the starting hill . it was H eisser taking th e lead o n his Suzuki. The powerful Suzuki of Rudy Dickinson, from R&D Racing Engines, was second. Den is took his Kawa saki after the two Suzuki riders an d was running in third. Keh oe took an average start. but didn 't let that hold him back. H e was downing the leaders one by one. Denis fell prey whi le moving up Webco Hill and Dickinso n cou ldn 't hold back the Honda pilot either and let Kehoe take over second on a double jump section. Heisser had the race wired and took the win. Den is learned from Kehoe.and while going up Webco, he zapped Dickinson to claim third. Hens ley set Dickinson back one more place la ter in the race to grab fourth . Kehoe cleared his wa y to th e lap in the fin al moto actio n a nd pl a ced ahead of Hen sley, Tracy Meeks, Dickinson and Heisser, There were five cash a wa rds going 10 Kehoe. R ick Hemme and Kyle Fleming, but it is now consi dera bly stro n ger with SCOll Brown joinin g th e team with toda v's ra ce. Larry Brooks has been th e top Mini Expert a boa rd a Suzuki and his new teammate proved to be quite a riv al. Brown took th e stoc k class by winning the fin al ro u nd over Brooks. MAY I I Motocross superstar of the early '70s, Tim Hart, made an unexp ected visit to the Contine ntal Motosports Clu b's mo tocro ss show at Ascot to play on e more number. Hart has been racing cars a t Ascot, but tonight was his first motocross on this track in at least eight years. Wearing leathers tha t he wore while ra cing for team Yamaha, Han 'mo unted a Yamaha ITand proceeded 10 embarrass several 500cc Pro members who sported mightier machines. Miller Pro d ucts rider Craig Cable was the victor, but Tim Han loo ked pretty good in fourth place wi th th e odds aga inst him. "Everywhere I'd turn there would be a headlight pointing at me," commented Rick J oh nson . Johnson. on his Mai co, played the game closest to Han and took third place in front of Hart. Cable was unstoppable and ' rounded the track in firs t the entire time. Mic ky Dymond was the runnerup in both rnotos and also on the overall results. Perhaps H art will come o n o u t and play with the 500cc Pro class aga in this season? While th e 500cc classes ar e usually ver y sma ll. th e 500cc Junior race ca me a live with 13 sp irited rid ers. Chris MacKay may race older bikes. but he beat s th em a t the finish line wh ere it co u nts. MacKay owns th e ·79 Ma ico that belonged 10 Track ' N Travers gr eat Dale Lewis. The ope n in g mot a saw MacKay take an avera ge start which meant that he had to perform some artfu l passing. H e ch ose th e old conce ssions co rner a n d th e TT jump to make hi s ad van ces on th e lead ers, a nd by th e end of th e mot o he was th e leader. Ri ch ard Jabuka and .James Rich ardson ca me closest 10 MacKay. Th e sta rt ing bend was muddy a nd MacKay locked bars with a fourstroke rider a t th e stan of the final rnoto. The othe r rider dropped whi le MacKa y didn 't. The situation still wasn 't good for MacKay because a n other rid er cra shed in front of him. Ron Bunn took his four-stroke Honda to the lead aft er his first mota DNF. Mike Modrak placed second ah ead of Raben Moore and MacKav.
