In the Mini division Gary Riekki wa s th e winner in the Expert class, wh ile Todd York took th e nod in th e Intermediate class. The 125cc Intermediates and Pros ra ced together and wer e scored separately which made for a very exci tin g race . Tony Toste, an Intermediate, twice held off the charge of Pro Terry Hampton, I n the first mota, Hampto n got by Toste on lap 12 for the o vera ll win bu t in th e second mota it took the Pro until the last la p of the 15-lap affai r to best th e charg ing Intermediate. Needless to say, Hampton and Toste were firs t in their respective divisions. Skeeter Lyer la was seco nd in the Intermediat es and Mike Pryor wa s third. The always-active 125cc Junior . class was taken by Sh awn Wynne with bac k-to-hac k wins. Jeff Sills and T ro y Pryor , both of Grover Ci ty, finish ed seco n d and third wi th identical five-point to tals, but with Sills having a better finish th e second tim e a u !. "Blasdell rocks Mt. Rog er Sh errill , Grayso n H art a nd Cory Klaud t mad e it p ast turn one wh ile Mike McCarn mi ck, Blasdell and Denn y Fennel a ll took part in spe cta cular crash es. Klaudt got th e lead during lap o ne and kept a strong hold on it as t.he mota h it the ha lfway mark , but Tim Mi ch litsch and Blasdell, who were both well ba ck in the pack during lap one, sta rted th eir moves to the top. David Froembling wa s ru n n i ng second to Klaud t a n d bega n to feel pressure from Michlitsch first a nd th en Blasdell as the moto carne to a close. Mi chl it sch 's la st -lap cha rge almos t got Klaudt as he crossed the finish , tak ing a very close second. Blasdell 's o u tstan ding ride netted him third while Froembling settl ed for fourth. Hart finished fifth . Blasd ell ro cketed in to the second mota lead an d by th e end o f the first la p it was clear it would be hard to stop th e Suzuki rid er. Kevin Wolf, Fennel and Michlitsch were the nex t three riders and soon Mi chlitsch got by to beg in a cha se after Blasd ell. Wolf and Fennel put on a great d ice while Froembling snuck into th ird behind Mich litsch. Blasdell took a convinci ng wi n with Michlitsch the runner -up. Froem bling was thi rd , Wolf fourth, Fennel fifth and first mota winner Klaud t worked u p to sixth . T he Open class found Buffaloe a nd Eaton both taking one win and one runner- up p lacing. Bu ffa loe took th e first win over Ea ton, Lyle Shoppert and Yamaha-mounted Alan Hi nkley. During mo ta two , Eaton was ou t front and gone, winning by more than 40 seconds over Buffaloe.
