As the race conti n ued O pen Expert William Saltzman, moved int o third and cha llenged McG raw for a cha nce at th e leader. The ch eckered flag dropped with Larsson in th e lead, Saltzman second and McGraw third. The 200cc race saw Ja y Stranger tak e th e early lead with Rob Hall a nd Mike Bell hot on his trail. O n the second lap Bell moved into the lead, H a ll dropped out a n d Norman Francis slid into third. O n the third lap Fra ncis gave wa y to Kar l Da vis. By the fifth la p Stranger had rega ined th e lead a nd Davis had moved into second. Third pl ace was taken by a . new co m p eti to r from th e Chainbrea kers, Rob Miller. As the race ended, th e top three held. Brian Manley took co m mand of th e 250cc class for th e o verall victory. On lap.one Man ley led the way wit h Crai g Ad am s, Ra n dy Hay es a nd Ran d y Norman a ll wanting a cha nce for the overa ll win . Halfway through rhe race. Manley still held the lead a nd Adams still in seco n d. Mike Bell .rnoved into third wit h H ayes and No rman close beh in d. At the finish it was Manl ey, Bell, Adams, a nd Norma n in th at order. As th e lea ders ca me arou nd o n the first lap of th e O pe n class it was Cra ig . Ada ms in the lead. Ra ymond Ca tes a nd Rand y Norman foll owed in ho t p ursuit. T hroug h th e first two lap s, Norman inched his way past Ca tes, th en Adams a n d into the lead. Bu t Adams wa sn 't going to give u p that eas ily a nd he took th e lead from Norman on th e fifth lap and hel d it until Norman regai ned it on the seventh la p and held the lead u nt il th e checkered.
