On lap two Murphy's Hi-Point Pro supported Yamaha led a pair of laps until Benolkin found the key on lap four. " We over-corrected the suspension," said Murphy. " It was too hard in the first and too soft in the second." Murph y's 28 point lead over J ack son leaves him the favorite in the series. " I fin ally found my rh ythm in rnoto two ," said Jackson. Benolkin's effort moved him past Team Tamm's Mike Shoemaker in third spot, and his wife Roxanne wa s on hand to give him a victory kiss. Open Pro Orlando's John Reinholt has had a frustrating series. After leading most of the moLOS, he still trailed KTM's John Finkeldey in the seri es standings. Reinholt's Honda of Orlando CR 480 shl ashed ahead of Honda teammate Dan Conway, Kessler, Keith Oelerich, Mike Knupp, John Collins and Finkeldey to start moto one. Conway's Moto-X Fox/Scotr .sponsored Tim Manry tuned Honda punished the Texan on lap four. " I got out ofshape and landed on the bars," said Conway. " My lungs really hurt." Collins al so bailed off and was taken to the hospital with a suspected broken collarbone. . Kessler , in his strongest '83 WinterAMA appearance, bested Reinholt to take th e rnoto on lap five. " We' ve been working on the Open class bike 's suspe nsion," said Kessler . "It's working much better now." Finkeldey moved up fro m seventh to th ird by rnoto's end. " Mike (Rossi) is putting the stock engi ne back in for moto two," sa id the New Englander , " I can only use 30% of th e works engine on th is rough track. " . Hu sk y's ' Andy St acy ga ined to fourth by moto's end. Reinholt romped all th e way in rnoto two . Kessler ra n down Conway for seco nd, bu t cou ld n't ca tch an inspired Reinholt in the 30 mi nute final e. Finkeld ey fought back from dead last to th ird, saying, "Hey, I can use 80% of th is engi ne." Kessler led Finkeldey, Sta cy and Mike T ripes for seco nd overall, th e 250cc rid e evidently tak ing its LOll on Kessler's energy. Re inholt said , " T he fan s gave me the desire. There was no way I could let Kessler ca tch me."
