Hadlock and Berluti were in pursuit and their drive would take them past Hybarger, with Berluti passing Hadlock for the win. Cloutier felI early in th e race, but his trem endous charge from the rear included a last turn pass of two sleeping rid ers , giving him fourth overalI , behind Hadlock , Berluti and H ybarger. Results . Danny Turner turned on the gas at Mammoth Bar for top 250cc Pro. ahead. Hurst couldn't close the gap and with time ticking away watched as Harsha wheelied across the line for the first place payoff. Third went 10 TurnbulI, Huffman was fourth and RusselI fifth . Walsh FERNLEY, NV., DEC. 12 FERNLEY, NV, DEC. 12 Atop a brand new 1983 250cc Suzuki, Expert Robbie Hadlock displayed why he is in possession of number-seven Blue Plate Following in the footsteps of his brother Randy, newlyturned-Expert rider Chad Kay (Team Green Kawasaki) had the 18 track to himself today, taking first overall both motos over a combined field of Experts and Juniors. The Junior class had three different leaders. Mark Lawson (Kaw) holeshot the first moto and led for half the race until a lapped rider decided to zig while Mark was zagging. Mark crashed. Larry Moore (Suz) took advantage of the situation and went into the lead with hard charging Peter Pecorilla (Han) gaining on By Moto Depo by winning the Expert class at the Shirt Jazz MX today. . At the start of the first combined Expert moto, Shawn Hybarger grabbed the holeshot on his Chris Bender Open Maico. DEC. 12 Lance Sponberg celebrated his 21st birthday in the traditional manner on Saturday night and on Sunday celebrated by riding his Highland Honda-sponsored CR to victory in the 250cc B class at the Thurston/Grays MX. The mud was like quicksand, it was raining and cold, and the wind 'came up - all the makings of a Washington winter MX (Eat your hearts out Californians.). Scott Tyler "paddled" his Maico to a much deserved win in the 250cc Pro class. Tyler has had some bad luck recently, but Sunday his riding was excellent. Cory Klaudt (Hon) took moto one, but DNF moto two because of a flat tire. In his second Pro race, Jeff Chapman (Suz) was second overall and Tom Moen (Sea Hon) was third. Over half of"the 10 rider field DNF rnoto two . Larry Ward (Kaw support) and Larry Kuebler (Hon) were the Mini class champions of the day. Turner, Smith, Aston take Mammoth Bar MX By "Nuclear" Neukam AUBURN, CA, DEC. 5 When De MeJlo Moto-X Promotions staged the return of motocross to the Mammoth Bar area deep in the Auburn Ravine (where the water wiIl be when the damn dam is completed), Hi-Point/ Suzuki rider Danny Turner proved that he was in top form by smoking both 250cc Pro rnotos on his Roost Factory-tuned Full Floater. "I've been working out pretty hard lately and I've been concentrating on my starts," said Danny. Yamaha 's Rodney Smith led Steve Vlahos and Randy Pockrandt in the earl y stages of the first 125cc Pro race. Kawasaki 's Timmy Aston was in sixth place after one lap. Hi-Point supported Pockrandt passed Vlahos to take over second as Aston was blazing his way through the four riders between him and blue-plate numberone Smith. By the white flag , Aston was third and working on Pockrandt with Vlahos in fourth . Smith won and Aston made it by Pockrandt for second. Pockrandt was third, Vlahos fourth and Jimmy Sisemore fifth. Aston shot out in front at the start of mota two with Smith in second, Pockrandt third and Yamaha-mounted Randy Chapman fourth . Aston pulled away from Smith to win the rnoto and the overall. Smith was second for second overall and Pockrandt was third again for third overaIl. Smith gassed his 490cc Yammer into the lead of both Open Pro motos and stayed there unchallenged to win the overall. Allen " Bad Boy" Berluti muscled his Michael's Cycles Maico into second overall with a 2-4 score.
