By midway all eyes were on Cantaloupi and Ellis . whose priva te battle had brought them past Heiberger and Losh and was now cutting down on McKenna's 26-second lead. Medford's Jeff Harsha (Yam Sports Center) won the Open A and Pro mains. Dan Bennett (N D/ Bel-Ray/ KR W/ H on ) took the 250 A main. but sat watching as Ryan Fisher (Garn er Yam/ Letters by Linda) smoked the 250cc Pro main and 1983 Novice Clay Light (LOP /Bosch/Out Front Number Plates/Yam) took the I25cc A main. Yamaha supported Harsha shot off the line like a rocket in the Open A main to wallop the field. just as he did in h is heat races. AMA Junior Bruce Russell (Yam) and Bruce Turnbull (Yam) followed and finished in that order. Harsha has been winning everything in sight 'as of late and proved his domination in this race . ·but would be faced with an even greater challenge in the up-eoming Pro main. Brad Hurst was Harsha's competition in' the 15-lap Open Pro main event. the last of the evening. Hurst got off the line well . but missed a shift ·and let Harsha swoop up the lead with a mighty tremor. Turnbull also slipped past Hurst and held the AMA veteran off for a lap before Hurst began his charge through the traffic to seek Harsha . who had already built up an unbelievable lead . Behind the Hurst! Harsha battle was Turnbull.
