anada- Northern California-Northern Nevada-Oregon-Washington-Idaho-Utah-AI The Sunday format attracted as many riders and spectators as any race day of the recent past, a nd Monday's race set new records for entries and paid spectators. Keith Pinkstaff ren ewed his lock on Open Production a nd used th e same 1980 Suzuki GSl loo 10 win Open Cafe as well. The Dan Freeman/ Wheelsport Kawasaki , P inkstaff's superbike ride, was running well in practice but went sour in th e first heat of Formula One, and Pin kstaff DNF the first heat . An Aceel conden sor was located in tact in the debris lirering trackside, and Pinkstaff won the second heat of Formula One. One first-time winner of a first p lace trophy in 750ce Production was Tony Howard on a KZ750. Howard had tried campaigni ng a modified KZl OOO in O pe n Cafe with margi nal success. " I go t smart and sold that noisy su cker," H oward said . " Got me a stock bike a nd learned how to ride it.., , Another modification to recent results was Q uen tin H ogan's win in 550cc Production and a second in 600cc Ca fe, the two most stro ng ly co ntested classes, on a stock GPz550. Mike Johnson, who won here last race and recently at Seattle Internationa l Raceway, had to settle for a very close second in 550cc Production. The O regon Motorcycle Parts $750 claiming class broughr'out some interesting entries. Joe Rod gers pocketed the $100 bill for first place on a well dialed GT550 Suzuki cafe bike , and Kevin Frazer won classy bike honors plus third place money on a Benelli Q ua tro. Someone is going to have to bring $750 to the track and keep these guys honest. As usual , 430ce Production provided tight racing, with Dick Burnam, Larry Buck and Mike Sullivan engaged in their usual mortal struggle. Bu rn am edged away somewhat in the first heat, only to have a set o f points fail , giving Buck the win. Burnam won the second heat, but Buck pushed 'the Highland Honda twi n into second in that heat Ior -th e overall win. Results OPEN PROD: 1. Keith Pinkst eH (Suz): 2. Kevin FrllZer (SU1); 3 .
