TEN YEARS AGO Jim Rice (BSA) turn ed in a stu nn ing, courageous performance to win the San Jose Mil e. Wh ile running the fo urt h in the early go ing, Rice hit the ins ide guard rail a n d pulled h is sho u lder out of joint. In th e Junior main , H arley-D a vidson-moun ted Scott Brelsford took th e win. The annual Berkshire ISDT qualifier was a th ree-da y affair. Three hundred and two riders started, but at th e end th ere were only eigh t gold medalists. Ron Bohn (H us) turned in the best individ ua l score, and joining him in the gold ran king were Jeff Penton, Jack Penton, Dave Mungenast, Billy Uh l, Tom Penton, Jake Fisher and Buck Walsworth. The second round of the Leis uretech U.S. Cup Mo tocross Series came to Saddleback Park.
