Back in 1977, when the Odysseys were first introduced, AI Goodson and his partner, Bear Kirsch , thought to themselves, "We've got to have one of these ." Since they'd been in the motorcycle business seemingly forever , they were able to tinker with the Odyssey by applying their knowledge. . Electric starting was the way to ~o . Since Ya~aha had a 125 ~nduro WIth an electric starter, they quickly bought all the components and started to apply this to their Odyssey. However, due to lack of horsepower, the starter was unable to crank the motor. After many unsuccessful attempts, the starter went up in smoke. Bosch IS where the next starter system came from . Due to the system being so big , application was extremely tough but worked. This is where the wheels stan turning. "Many of our friends had seen the starter and said , 'Hey, this would be great for our wives, kids ,' and one thing led to another," remembers Goodson.
