The America n Mo tocross Enterprises' ATV Division is doing everyth ing they can to p resent a good program to Su nda y racing at Indian Dunes. It is one of the only loca l clubs to offer Pro classes with cash payback for riders. Today, two 25-minute motos were held for eac h ATV class, run on the so-called practice track. The threewheeler turnout was very good with a ll the Modified 250s signing up in the Pro class . Th Odyssey turnout was light, but they still put on som e good racing. Jeff Denes took the lead in 250cc Stock three-wheeler (Class Three) fro m the start in the first rnoto, However, he DN F with o nly five minutes 10 go and passed the lead 10 Chuck Giglio who went on to win. Second place went to Bru ce Carlson followed by Mark Peterson . In 25 minutes, they made 26 laps. Carlson grabbed the lead on the start of the second moto a nd had to work hard 10 ho ld it 10 the finish . G iglio worked his way fro m fourt h to second by the 13th la p a nd really p ut the pressu re on Carlson, but Giglio had to sett le for second. Third went 10 Peterson. The second mo ta produced 29 laps, the most exciting race of the day . Curtis Sparks took the lead in 200cc Modified th ree-wheeler (Class five) from the start and flat ran away from the entire pack. By the 10th lap, Sparks had lapped everyone. He put in 29 laps for the wi n over Tony DePhillips (25 laps) and Ron Kelley (24 lap s). In the 250cc Pro three-wheelers, Ron H aa se took the lead on the start only 10 loose it to Sparks on the fifth lap. Sparks, who had just finished ridi ng the 200cc Modified class, raced the same 200cc four-stroke Honda in 250cc Pro. Before the end of the mota, he had lapped the entire field for the wi n. Haase held second with Greg Thurmond third. Nick Hale took the lead in the second moto on ly 10 be passed by Sparks on the third lap . Sparks had engine problems on the 24th la p , and Haase went on for the win followed by T hurmond and Jack Gushue. Scott Mi ller led the Stock Odyssey (Class O ne) firs t mo to from start 10 fin ish. Keith Brown held on to second place for mos t of the race, on ly 10 lose it to Ro b VanOrsdol with three la ps to go .
