That's right; at the recent AM A/Winston Pro Series TT Feb. 7 in the Houston Astrodome, Mark "Wax" Weixeldorfer lapped the track on ly four seconds slower than top qualifier Mike Kidd . American Honda, who was one of the many sponsors that weekend, brought out Wax and Mike Chester (who had just won the Parker 400 the previous day) for a halftime show. The two Team Honda riders took to the track in front of 22,000 spectators to demonstrate what three-wheelers are capable of doing. Both riders, who like high speeds anyway, proceeded to give the crowd a real show. In fact, Wax turned on the gas to fall only four seconds off of Honda's main man, Mike Kidd, who qualified at 29.559 seconds. Can you im agine if there had been a full blown race? You never know; that time may have come down quite a bit. East Theworld 'sfirstATVschooll Russ Darnell, since switching to Honda backing, has now put together the first A TV school. This three-wheeler was used to sweep the track at the opening round of the Canadian Ice Racing Championship Series which wa s held at Va l D 'Or, Quebec, Canada, on January 31. Coyote Racin g and Murrell Enterprises are in the plan ning stages of putting togeth er some sort of two day national ATV event at the Santa Clara' County fairgrounds in San Jose. CA . Although a date has not yet been set, there will be big money invo lved; probably the biggest ATV purse ever offered. ' Pete Scalzo Promotions, out of Florida, is putting on a three-wheel and Odyssey quarter mile oval and stadium motocross event at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. All AMA classes will be run. What's so' neat about this race is that it's only 30 miles from Daytona Speedway. That means after you race, you can slip down to teke in all the happenings at Daytona. All this takes place March 4-5. No A fifth major manufacturer has almost released their threewheeler. Well, almost anyway. Right now, Suzuki is showing off their new three-wheelers to their dealers around the country. Suzuki has come out with a 125cc fourstroke, a ALT 50cc with a JR5 motor for the little guys and some kind offour-wheeler.lt's notlike an Odyssey though.
