If you own a Honda XR, chances are you
ride enduros withit.
But the same engine you trust forits
awesome torque anduncanny reliability has
made a nameforitselfin a lot ofother types
ofracing.
Dirt trackers, TT andscrambles racers
have allfound our XRto be the ultimatefourstroke engine. Its wide, predictable powerband
andits exclusive, four-valve Pentroof" head
get plenty ofpower to the ground immediately.
The result is better, more tractable power.
Recently, iceracers have taken that power
andused it to totally dominate their sport.

tookfirst, second andthird in the
1982 Invitational Indoor Ice Race
Series. All aboard
XR250-engined machinery.
In fact, nine ofthe top
ten finishers in the series
rode XR250-engined
motorcycles.
And thanks to the Honda Ice
Racing Awards Program, all
those guys wereable to tum their ice racing into
cold cash. Eventhoughthe programdidn't
requirethe winners to ride Hondas, 14out of "
the 15contestants chose Hondas anyway.
And left the competition out in the cold.
